My hometown is pretty artsy. There is still a stigma about it being dangerous because the gangs were kinda bad in the 90s. You may also think of Wayne's World or even the railroad. We are definitely a blue collar hard working town.
Nowadays, when you go downtown you are more likely to bump into an artistic installation than a drug deal. on December 6th I participated in an art show at. Two Brother's Roundhouse . The only restriction is that the piece should be 6x6. These are my entries. I sold one crochet piece. I'm a little happy the blackwork wheel didn't sell. :)

ArtBar Show, featuring everyone!
Our local watering hole. Two Brother's Roundhouse is kind enough to let all us artist types in for a little show on the first Friday of each month.
December (6th) the theme is 6by6. My piece geometry piece was selected to be the poster art. :)
You can see these all over Downtown Aurora.
You should come, it'll be fun.
Oh, and buy stuff. Everything showing is for sale!

Alley Art Fest!
on Aug 31st I participated in my first big "Craft/Art Fair". You may have heard about it if you are around the Aurora area. Alley Art Fest is full of some of the best local artists. Many of whom I am lucky enough to call friends. I didn't get as many photos of the other participants as I would have liked because I was busy limping around all pregnant like and manning the booth I shared with Gail Chrisse, Jeff Weber, Jessi Cox, Ellis Maldonado and Gail's Mom, Jean. All great artists in their own right.
With the money I made that day, I spent a chunk of it on Chris's creatures.
This was the beginning on the day.
Right after we got there the rain started. It threatened all day but ended up being pretty nice considering the forecast.
Here is my spread.
The bow necklaces did well. The canvases, which are my personal favorite don't sell. I'm not sure people get that it's touchable wall art. I'm not sure how to make them more lovable or at least how to translate how much I love them. Something to think more about.
Also, I found this wooden sewing case at the locally loved thrift store. It's amazing. I've never seen anything like it. It's perfect to hold supplies and to use a a display case. Here it is when I brought it home.
Amazing. Then a few days later a good friend of mine let me know she found ANOTHER ONE and picked it up for me. The second one is exactly the same but about half the size. You can see it on the table in the photos above.
It was a good day.

My first DforV showing.
Well I did it.
I showed the work, in public. :) I got lots of glances and comments but no one bought. I was surrounded by some very talented artists and great people. I did feel like I brought a bunch of knives to a gun fight. But no matter. It was a good day.
All pieces are still for sale. And don't forget I really prefer and love custom orders. You give me and idea and I will price it and run with it.
Thanks to everyone that helped me out and encouraged me along the way. Especially my sweet husband who knows when to offer help and when to just shut up and move. He's the art to my craft. <3
Sharing a booth with me is my yarn buddy Gail. She makes beautiful and ornate jewelry from found pieces.
Together we have a small Stitch n Bitch Saturday mornings at Culture Stock. It's open to the public! Come hang with us, I'll show you some stitches if you don't know any. :)
